Tyrannosaurus prowling, redux

A redesign of Tyrannosaurus prowling - I'm getting the hang of colouring.

I think it's a big improvement from this.

Parasaurolophus walkeri, a 30-foot Albertan hadrosaur from the Late Cretaceous.

Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops, Yin to the Yang.

Here's another redesign - the original colours didn't work out.

Tyrannosaur revamp

Revamped a past image, for the better, I think. After visiting an aviary, I think the "shark eye" is a bit more fun than the Frank Sinatra look, lol.

Tyrannosaurus on a hill

Another installment of Tyrannosaurus, this time, he's strutting around. I based this image off a picture of a rooster, though I don't know if you'd be able to tell or not. I like the colouring on this one.

Also, here's an apatosaurus for Ann Marie. If you'd like your own doodle of a dinosaur, let me know : )

Page 6 - Tyrannosaurus!

Here's another tyrannosaurus from my upcoming Tyrannosaurus booklet. I think I'm going to go back and re-colour a bunch of the pages which don't live up to my vision for the pictures. No point in doing something if you're not going to do it right ...

new Tyrannosaur art

I've produced a bunch of Tyrannosaur pictures lately, and the ones which are turning out best are the ones which embrace a colour scheme, rather than just trying to replicate scenery. These two are case in point, the blue scheme and the orange turned out much better than the ... like green and muddy brown of some of the other pics.

I might go back and recolour some of the other pictures with this in mind, or perhaps add some highlights that incorporate a colour scheme  more effectively.

Hope you like 'em!

Tyrannosaur update - new focus on those jaws!

This was posted ealier, but some of the colouring and shading has been tweaked, hopefully for the better. Again, this is part of a tyrannosaur project that I'm more than half complete.
Here's a Japanese discovery, Kagasaurus, though, I think it may only be a "tooth species," meaning, it's definitely a megalosaurian tooth, but ... no other remains exist to further qualify what on earth this thing looked like!

Another modern discovery, Tlatolophus!

I drew this off a "How to draw dinosaurs" book, and it got the dimensions off - the head should be much bigger, I think.

I made a sculpture of this one, if anyone would like to see it, just let me know.

Dinosaur nativity scene. Why not?

Big smiling Tyrannosaurus : )

Another installment of the upcoming Tyrannosaurus project. It's taken a long time to get this artwork close to ready!

Here's Janenschia robusta, a titanosaurid from the Tanzanian Late Jurassic. Twas about about 80 feet long!

Corythosaurus sketch

Here's a strip of construction paper that I converted into dinosaurs, instead of just throwing out.

Labocania, maiasaura, and a T-rex update

Food goes here. Whether it likes it or not.

Padillasaurus

 Padillasaurus leviaensis

maybe 50 feet long, from the Paja Formation in Colombia, described by José L. Carballido et al in the 1990s.

From my upcoming Tyrannosaurus project, aptly named "Tyrannosaurus."

Pachyrhinosaurus

Another fun picture and some more updates on the Tyrannosaurus project.

Good ol' pachyrhinosaurus discovered in 1946 by the legend Charles Sternberg. Supposedly, it was like 26 feet long, from the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous and is proudly all-Canadian (except for the specimens that are from the US, lol). The holotype was unearthed from the St. Mary River Formation. Now you know!

Tyrannosaurus stuff

I've been working on a Tyrannosaurus project for a while now, and some of the artwork is finally starting to take shape! The drafting, sketching, inking, scanning, and finally some colouring, has taken ages - here's a taste of how it's coming together! There's a LOT of good stuff in this project : )

You can learn more or following along at my Facebook group page, Spring Chickens  @SpringChickenCapers or on Twitter @RogersRyan22 if you'd like to follow along!

Back in the saddle

It has been a long, long time since I've spent much time working at getting the continuation of this story put together - but over the past few days I've spent a little more time going over my old notes and configuring how I want to approach the next installment.

The good news is this: I'm working on the new script that will pick up in Gobekli Tepe where a subterranean temple was demolished with Dr.s Casey Miller and Howard Bolam trapped inside.

What I loved about the last installment of Tomb of the Undead was that the script really worked on a lot of levels for me - I was really happy with how it came together and the character development throughout. The artwork developed nicely over the years, as well. Can you imagine it took four years to put it all together? Wow.

I'm not sure how long it will take to write this script, but it's the first step to finally getting back in and telling the rest of the story I wanted to tell.

I'm excited to talk about the project, but as usual, don't want to spoil anything before the time comes for you to see it. In any case, as I make developments, I'll probably post them up here, quietly, where they'll never be seen.

But they'll make for an interesting history of the project.

Today I made real strides in determining the "subject" of the story, which isn't necessarily zombie dinosaurs, as the title of this blog suggests, but rather, the story of a man who learns to love and open his heart. :) .... to zombie dinosaurs.

Dinosaur Man, vol. 2 - The Unhappy Visitors

For today's Throw-back Thursday, here's the second, classic edition of Dinosaur Man. Vol.2 The Unhappy Visitors. It's still terrible, and basically, it's just some jerk who beats up other dinosaurs. Granted, it would appear their social circles and societal decisions were fairly primitive, so perhaps this is simply how dinosaurs behave - - running around in herds prepared to beat each other up.

Notice the now-politically-incorrect chest slap indicating something sucks?
Boy, that sure takes us back to the school yard.

Sure see a lot of homages to the terrific Nelvana product Beetlejuice: The Animated Series

And there you have it, a successful party where there was a big fight and everybody got beaten up. I imagine this is what it's like at Peter Jackson's place when he has a party.

#TBT Dinosaur Man, vol. 1

For today's Throw-back Thursday, I figured I'd go back and dig up some of the oldest, more embarrassing stuff I can get my hands on, and then show it to you. So, without further ado, Witness to the origin story for Dinosaur Man, circa 1992.
